I saw The Tree of Life on opening weekend at the ArcLight in Hollywood and I have to say it was the best looking movie I've seen in years. I don't know if it had anything to do with Malick's instructions or not, but the projectionist did something right - it looked fantastic.

Re: The Hangover 3. Part II was successful only because Part I was. I work in a cinema and get to hear first-hand feedback from audiences; mostly (as in 90%): bad. So to get the bums on seats for a third one, they'd have to do a great job convincing people it is going to be worth it. And acknowledge they messed up on number 2. I think the appeal of the concept was the mystery/puzzle that had to be solved through clues. They should keep that, but change the circumstances. Go deeper with the characters. And let Justin Bartha be part of it this time.

Anne said, "I think the appeal of the concept was the mystery/puzzle that had to be solved through clues."

To me, that was the pure gold aspect of the original high concept. From a writing perspective, that not only provides a strong backbone to the plot, it also is just damn funny in and of itself.

My favorite detail of Nimoy video, and there were so many, tiger shirt and tiger painting. Such a great job they did, every detail pitch perfect, and what a great sport Spock was.

In 1971, the children's librarian of a newly opened public library in Troy, Michigan, sent out letters to writers, requesting congratulatory letters to the children of Troy talking about library delight, 97 replied (list of writers and pdf links btm of pg): http://troylibrary.info/letterstothechildrenoftroy

The letters remind me of a GITS for little kids. Dr. Suess shared, "Read! Read! Read!" Neil Simon talks about going through every section, reading every book (warmed my heart, me too).

GITS folk are readers, and this world is better for having lots of readers, do what you can to make libraries available to kids in your community. At minimum, we'll have smarter audience, that can think critically, that's ready for and wants great entertainment, like mysteries and puzzles, and that means funner writing for us.
