Actually, the Creative Screenwriting podcast was discontinued in March after longtime editor Jeff Goldsmith left the magazine to go out on his own. I haven't checked out his new podcast yet, but his interviews were always informative and entertaining.

Here are two great podcasts you can download on iTunes:

On the Page - From screenwriting guru Pilar Alessandra, this podcast is full of useful tips and fun banter on how to develop a marketable screenplay.

KCRW's The Business - Podcast version of the weekly radio show out of Santa Monica. Offers very newsy coverage of the latest industry developments. As such, they don't focus on screenwriting much, but they do spend a lot of time talking about how recent movie deals were put together.

The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith is fucking amazing. I'm totally addicted.

Working screenwriters being asked questions about screenwriting = Crack for me.

Yeah, Jeff Goldsmith's Creative Screenwriting Podcast series is a goldmine of great, informative, useable interviews with working writers in the industry. Even though the podcast has been discontinued, they are still up on iTunes for everyone to dive into. These, above all other podcasts, are the most satisfying and just plain awesome. Check out just one episode to get a feel for the format and types of questions Jeff used in all the other interviews. Great great stuff.

For film criticism, I have to give a shout to the guys at The Film Talk. (FULL DISCLOSURE: While the podcast is entirely free to subscribe, I've donated to help keep the show going -- yes, it's that good.)

TFT is erudite, engaging and funny. The hosts are passionate, learnéd and charismatic -- unlike a lot of the populist film podcasts out there that are little more than fanboy insider talk.

It is the only podcast to which I will listen for reviews of films I have no intention of seeing. Yes, it's that good. I feel smarter, more culturally satisfied, and as a screenwriter, actually more inspired after listening to it.
