Worked hard.
Was told the work was good, but there was no place for it.
Cried a lot.
One long string of failures in a chain of seemingly endless failures.
Until, I bit the bullet --

-- and married a network exec.

I decided it was okay to succeed and committed myself everyday anew to the work at hand. (And I lived an interesting five years and collected some awesome stories to tell along the way, too.)

Persevered.

There's learning to hit the ball, and there's learning to hit the ball out of the park. Every time. On demand. And often enough to make this full-time pursuit. Kept learning and polishing craft, in every free moment, getting stronger and faster. Always respected the craft and the audience, never forgot it was about entertaining and having fun.
