Lawyers (My Cousin Vinny, Adam's Rib, The Verdict, To Kill A Mockingbird, etc.).

Embarrassing situation: No shortage of examples and always fun dialog.

Okay. My last comment (which should have been "situations") spurred another funny theme: People at a loss for words.

In honor of Super 8 opening, how about kick-ass kids dialogue. The Goonies, Monster Squad, Stand By Me, Explorers, Gremlins.

Jurassic Park turns 18 next Saturday (awwww.. it's old enough to vote and buy cigarettes). How about quotes from that series of films?
The Unknown Lyricist at 2011-06-03 14:07:53:
How about Arnold quotes?

Have you done a deathbed week?

How 'bout The Outsiders?

all I got from the scene was this little 13 second clip:

I ditto Andrew's suggestion — kick-ass kids dialogue.
KyahGreen at 2011-06-03 15:22:17:
Either opening lines of films or closing lines of films. Whichever hasn't been done yet.
Nate Winslow at 2011-06-03 15:51:18:
I vote for Bitter's Jurassic Park suggestion. Jesus. Has it really been 18 years? That's enough to make ME feel old.

"Must go faster, must go faster!"

I suggest characters telling jokes. Like the chinaman joke Gittes tells in Chinatown, or Tarantino's bar joke from Desperado: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMqL5dRiRKU

I'm feeling kind of meta today. How about dialogue referencing other movies? There's the argument about Casablanca in When Harry Met Sally, the mention of The Graduate in (500) Days of Summer, the comparison of Goodfellas and Reservoir Dogs in Swingers.

Theme I don't recall seeing before, if there are enough examples for a week, how about moments of professional pride? From The Mummy, a great shout out to all librarians, especially the 85 school librarians axed in LA:
Evelyn: Look, I... I may not be an explorer, or an adventurer, or a treasure-seeker, or a gunfighter, Mr. O'Connell, but I am proud of what I am.
Rick: And what is that?
Evelyn: I... am a librarian.

Some great suggestions. Let's go with kick-ass kid's dialogue for next week, then in honor of Jurassic Park, dialogue from that series the following week.

The others are strong suggestions as well and we can definitely carry them forward onto a list of future possibilities.

So what are some great examples of kick-ass kid's dialogue?
The Bitter Script Reader at 2011-06-03 18:16:00:
Welll.... if we're taking "kick-ass kids" literally, there's any number of unprintable one-liners from Hit Girl in KICK-ASS.

Case in point: this scene.

Fair warning - the language is pretty rough coming from a 10 year old girl.
Teddy Pasternak at 2011-06-03 20:28:07:
This was my favorite film as a kid and it is chock-full of kick-ass dialogue. I begged my parents to go see it multiple times in the theatre.

Here are the opening lines from Bugsy Malone:

Fat Sam (V.O.): Someone once said, "If it was raining brains, Roxy Robinson wouldn't even get wet." Roxy had spent his whole life making two and two into five, but he could smell trouble like other people could smell gas. But believe you's me, he should've never taken that blind alley by the side of Parido's Bakery.

Bronx Charlie: Your name Robinson?

Roxy Robinson: [nods nervously]

Shoulders: Roxy Robinson?

Roxy Robinson: [nods nervously again]

Benny Lee: You work for Fat Sam?

Roxy Robinson: [nods once final time before being splurged to death]

Fat Sam (V.O.): Whatever game it was everybody was playing, sure as eggs is eggs, Roxy the Weasel had been scrambled.

Definitely the one-up insult fest in Sand Lot. No doubt. e.g., "Pee-drinking crap-face!"
