Wow I wonder how long it would take to read every script here. I will start now and let you know when I finish ;)

Conversations with Wilder a great interview book, I consider him one of the greatest writer/directors and Crowe leads the conversations well.

I would also include William Goldman's books. Although not interviews, they give a really in depth look into a screenwriter's head and they're entertaining.

Also would be interested to read some early drafts (not just scripts put together after the movie) from really experimental movies like GUMMO, early HERZOG stuff like EVEN DWARFS STARTED SMALL, GODARD, LYNCH. Haven't been able to find them, but would be interesting to see how experimental filmmakers approach script.

Anyway cool column, I look forward to more.

LYNCH on LYNCH is a great book. Focuses on the creative side of filmmaking along with a glimpse into the career of lynch. TJ: There are multiple drafts of Lynch's "Ronnie Rocket" online that may give some insight into what his early drafts look like.

Thanks, TJ. I'm working my way through Conversations with Wilder (my 2nd time) and doing it as a blog series. You can see that here. Highlighting stuff relevant to screenwriting.

Lynch on Lynch is one I have in my bookcase, but have yet to read. Thanks for the nudge. I'll get to it soon.
