A quick introduction: my name is Jonathan Peace and I'm a UK based screenwriter. I write scripts of horror, disaster and action, your typical B-movie. I love 'em: "Attack of the crab monsters" "The Blob" "Planet Terror"; if there's gore galore, a character or two with crazy names like Shotgun Pete or Belinda Bedhlam I'm in.

I've currently got a script in part-development with a UK studio, was hired by Vantis Pictures to write a scifi which is in production and have several scripts being read by studios such as Warner Brs, Fox and Dimension. Not bad for a first year I think.

I'm now writing my fifth spec as well as planning my sixth.

I've been an irregular reader of the GITS site for a year. Today that changed. Thanks for the great info. I've now bookmarked this into my blackberry and will be checking in every day.

Hi, I'm Matt.
As Jonathan said, an "irregular reader" past year or so, now visit on a regular basis.

Wrote no-budget indie feature "Misty Isle Out" in Alaska some years back, but not sure that counts as screenwriting since I produced it myself.

I write regularly. Screenplays, articles, also blog (in GITS sidebar, 49th Films) about Alaska writing/film. Have reached semis of Nicholl and American Zoetrope comps - which is good and bad. Bad cuz it acts as a "carrot" just when I want to quit.

Worked a season in Antarctica, love my dog.

@Matt: We've swapped a few emails and comments over the last several months. I've been to Alaska twice, once on an epic location scout (I think I mentioned that to you before).

Re that part of you that may feel like quitting from time to time, I'm reminded of that quote: "A professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit."

My name is Alandre Drakes and according to my screenwriting teacher with whom I just recently finished a class I have about a year's worth of experience. My interest in writing really began with my introduction to film criticism and I still pursue that passion as a hobby.

My favorite genres of film are thrillers and science fiction although being a cinephile makes it hard to identify one or two; There are so many genres that I love.

My career goal is to be able to write in every medium possible (i.e comic books, novels, playwright) but right now I'm focusing on film and TV writing. I'm actually finishing up a spec pilot script from the Script Frenzy competition and hoping to get some outside opinion soon.

I have seen your blog through several trusted sources like the Film Doctor and I have to say it is already frustratingly essential. Your screenwriting coverage is probably the most extensive and thorough I have seen on the web. I especially love the interview section and writing tips. I will definitely share your Rod Serling feature with everyone I know.

You have some pretty handy advice yourself. Particularly the insistence on immersing your in film. Best writing advice I have ever heard.

You have already given me a shout out on Twitter (@ParappaEast) much to my surprise so I just wanna thank you for that. Nice to have a screenwriting teacher that actually seeks to help and inspire rather than just obsess over jargon.

Two quick things: (1) Re immersing yourself in movies, I'll be posting some questions about that, then creating a series of posts in the next few weeks about ways to do that on all fronts: movies, screenplays, books, video resources, lectures, etc. (2) I've added your blog to my Friends blogroll.

That Rod Serling series of videos is amazing. I plan to re-run that at some point.
