I know I'm probably too late for suggestions, but...the scene from NIGHT OF THE HUNTER when corrupt preacher Harry Powell and tough-as-nails Rachel Cooper sing "Leaning on the Everlasting Arm" together? Creepy and brilliant. They take a song used to comfort elsewhere in the film, and make it just incredibly ominous. I can never hear the hymn without thinking about this scene anymore (which put an interesting spin on a certain Easter Sunday performance).
