When I first read the script, I knew that was an Oscar winning role. When Brad Pitt became attached, I assumed it was for this role.

The casting was perfect, though. Wouldn't change a thing. Just surprised what roles A-listers pick sometimes when they can have pick of the litter :)

The interesting thing in retrospect is that he didn't overplay it or underplay it. Only on the Bingo part did he become a parody of himself, and that was probably intentional.
