Wow. This story lead me to the wikipedia page of park ranger Roy Sullivan who was struck by lightning 7 times before committing suicide.

Y'know the only occurrence of a lightning-struck character that I can think of in the annals of cinema would be William H. Macy's character from MAGNOLIA, "Quiz Kid" Donnie Smith. And even then it was merely a blip in his backstory.

So yeah, if you can pull it off, go for it, there aren't a lot of precedents working against you!

13, 13, 13... sounds like the beginnings of a new superhero...

In The Curious Case of Benjamin Button there was a running gag with a character being struck by lighting seven times.

Lightning. With an "n." I always mess that up.

@Jeff and Teddy: Yeah, Magnolia and CCOBB. I'm trying to remember, but in Phenomenon, Travolta wasn't struck by lightning, but rather a bright light, right?

Re the spelling of "lightning": Pet peeve when I read scripts where people spell it "lightening." That is not an electrical phenomenon but rather this: "He was busy lightening her load." I probably see the word spelled the wrong way more than I do the right way.

Yeah, it was a flash of light:

"he was 13, and it happened at 13:13 on Friday the 13th"

That's a party invitation to the supernatural.
