Thanks for reminding me that. I just finished the first draft exactly one week ago. And, even though it was hard not to open the script, I really managed to stay away. I even tried not to think much of it. I'm so anxious though about what I'll find in my screenplay after a week.
This is my first comment here, but I'm checking your blog daily since last year, and I really learned a lot about movie business and the screenwriting process. Very useful for an aspiring filmmaker from Romania. So thanks a lot for keeping the dream alive...

Great advice Scott... I believe Stephen King said that he does the same thing in his book On Writing. It is really a tough thing to do, because I am always so excited to be done I want to move onto the next step ASAP.

First time i post here.

I see the point of what you say, but i never feel that. I cant even go half through the first draft without already hating 30% of what i already wrote. Finishing my first first draft has been hellish, all i can think of is backtracking, correcting, and only then try to drag this dead horse to the finish line.

I realize i may be too harsh and that be that as it may, a fresh set of eyes will also help. But i'd love to feel some optimism about it every now and then!
