Re "no right way to write", though I remain befuddled by the writing part, have figured out one thing about the way, have fun, improves the odds the audience will too. As terrific evidence, comic book written by a six year old, his thirty year old brother did the art, Axe Cop. And, yes, it is, written by a six year old, having so much fun it's fun for all of us.

Scott, just finished book you recommended (Craft of Screenwriter, John Brady's interviews), thank you so much, it was a real pleasure to read.

Unfortunately, the Bob's Big Boy where Lynch had his milkshake appointment for years is now deceased. I tried his method there a couple of times, but I just got sick and wired.

@DeafEars: I've always wondered where that Bob's Big Boy was. There was one on LaCienega between Pico and the 10 fwy. Was that it?

@Scott: It was at Highland and Wilshire, but I can't remember where I found out that it was that particular B's BB - it does seem from poking around online a bit that Lynch liked to be interviewed there.

Scott, I find this interesting. I've begun reading SCREENPLAY, by Syd Field. But.. there is no right way to write?

@Daley: Syd Field was the first screenwriting guru book I read (and only one apart from Vogler).

Let me put it this way (as I have at points in this series): There is no one right way to write. Each of us has to find our own writer's voice.

That presupposes there is a way for you.

So again -- test out every idea, theory, paradigm or approach that comes your way. What works, keep it. What doesn't, dump it. And that includes any advice I provide.

Don't let anyone tell you they have THE right way, or THE secret to writing a hit screenplay.

Find your writer's voice, not theirs.

Hey, Atlanta, thanks for the Axe Cop link. Just read those sample pages, think they're hilarious. I read two panels and he had me. Crazy that it's written by a six year old. Gotta go to the comic book store and buy an issue.
