Do you think Loeb will still be hot after the FIASCO that was Wall Street 2?
Nate Winslow at 2011-02-15 23:23:52:
As much as I didn't like that movie, no. It won't touch him at all. He has written three movies that came out since then, and has 11 movies in development where he's writing/producing over the next two years.

So safe to say: no.

@Annika W: Here's the funny thing. If you're a screenwriter, you can take credit for a movie you wrote if it does well. But if it does poorly, you can blame the director, marketing department, etc.

So you almost always come out smelling, if not like a rose, at least okay.

And as Nate notes: Loeb has a ton of projects in development. He's doing just fine.

WALL ST 2 grossed $133,174,616 worldwide before dvd, cable etc, so it was hardly a "fiasco" financially. IIRC, the critical consensus was that it was a disappointment considering the talent involved but not a disaster. So yeah, it could have been better but even there it doesn't really affect Loeb's reputation.

Didn't Oliver Stone, in an interview, actually apologize to people for making WS2? I thought it was the worst movie I've seen in years, and I was one of the people who contributed to the big gross, as I went on opening weekend, hoping for something as good as the first one.

A google search turns up Stone apologizing for anti-Semitic remarks, but not WALL STREET 2.

I sneaked in to a screening after catching LET ME IN but left after about 40 minutes, it didn't really hold my interest. WALL STREET was ahead of the curve, WALL STREET 2 was way behind it.

Allan Loeb isn't going anywhere. At my last count, he's got 19 scripts that he's either written originally or adapted or that he's rewritten that are in development, not to mention several TV shows he's developing and pitching, so, he'll be around for quite awhile. He's probably already working on some new scripts and is considering some new rewrite assignments, that he's being offered.
PTMaatta at 2011-03-23 16:29:37:
I read the script to "The Dilemma" and I liked the script. But the resulting movie, looked like crap. But I think that's more on the hands of Ron Howard and Vince Vaughn for doing that. The script wasn't Shakespeare, but it was occasionally funny. So, there you go.
