Not to rag on this interview, but isn't a story of a woman taking the reigns of a household... or set in desperate search for her father, also a "female pathology"?

Granik is right to point out that there is a lack of good lead female roles out there, but Winter's Bone also displays pretty typical feminine goals. It's in HOW it's executed, both script and performance, which makes it stand out.
