This relationship was so well developed, I have never sobbed harder in a movie than when Tom Hanks lost Wilson. His guilt and sadness was overwhelming.

And to think, Annika, that the inspiration for creating Wilson as a character was - most likely - to give Hanks' character someone with whom he could talk. Otherwise the entire movie is either interior (his thoughts) or him talking to himself.
