The take-away message reminds me of Christopher Nolan and Memento. He said he used a three-act-structure on how information was conveyed to the audience to retain a familiar structure while telling the story backwards.

Interesting. Especially since Blake Snyder used Eternal Sunshine as an example of not only the traditional three-act structure, but Snyder's more elaborate 15-step structure.

Was Snyder stretching things a bit or did the interviewer (and Kaufmann himself, it seems) miss the fact that Kaufmann, despite his many story innovations, is actually a traditionalist at heart?
