I read this article when it was originally posted. I was also reading an article on Tony Gilroy about BOURNE. I searched in my area for martial arts schools and found a Taekwondo (which I studied in high school) gym across the street from my apartment with an instructor who was Matt Damon's trainer in BOURNE SUPREMACY. Deciding that fate obviously had something for me here, I signed up for classes. Two years later, I tested last night for brown belt. A number of aspects of the martial arts have become very beneficial to my practice of writing. Most importantly, I've seen how a little practice a day can translate into higher kicks, just like a little writing a day can translate into better scenes. I've also found that exercising the body helps exercising the mind, as does many of the breathing and meditation techniques which become part of training. There are also many parallels regarding discipline, as Mr. Lawton mentions. Thanks again for posting and I hope another person may check out a martial art because of it! I can't recommend it enough
