Shane Black and Death Note! Two favorite things, never imagined them together. Chatter in other circles, not happy about Black. I loved Long Kiss Goodnight (stunned when I checked box office results), and every Black script I devoured. And Black seems so smart and grounded, which bodes well. But, wow, not sure about live action Death Note. The Japanese live action version (in our que, might well get moved up to tonight) I heard was for fan base (ie, folks not familiar with property would just be confused). The tempo, the characters, the gray area around bad and good guy, let's see what Black can do in 120 minutes. May it turn out to be a whole lotta fun.

The Death Note anime is amazing!
I recommend everyone to watch it( and "Monster" also)
But a 120 mn movie will never tell the long and epic battle between the characters .You can use the same concept but the depth of the story will not be present.

Huge fan of the anime, and I even enjoyed the japanese live movie adaptations. Even though it's shane black, I'm worried about what they'll do to try and improve what's already excellent.
