More visuals than actual point with the story, if you ask me.

Great view for the eye, less for the mind.

There wasn't really a story, just a neat idea. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I loved the juxtaposition of a high tech, space-age world with the very human nonchalance of the main character (if that's what he was) and the people, even in this high-tech world, who still enjoy Charlie Chaplan. I love that.

Got curious, found this making of video at wired.

Smartly made, bravo Craig, the mood, the music, the no dialogue, the title and use of Charlie Chaplin film. Favorite details, "United Earth" on ship, and guy pulling out book to read.

A short happy modern take on things, more utopia than dystopia, easy to digest, great first calling card, may Craig have his pick of opportunities.

Actually I think the story of the piece was that we should all open our eyes to the world around us. We sit and consume entertainment at the expense of having real experiences. Or we tire of real experiences so soon after having them.

The "movie-goers" in this piece needed to project something on the surface of the moon in order to find fascination there. A bit negative instead of happy if you ask me.

@JCA, I agree with you, folks struck me like the happy not yet enlightened folks from Wall-e, only hipper. But Craig was inspired by how we'll watch films in future, and he came up with an evocative answer, classy music score and all, that folks find compelling. He done good. My biggest nitpic, film on reel? Never, no matter how temperature etc controlled this future environment (I bet film archivists are shuddering at that moment in short). For a more substantive consideration of our future, comic and text meditation on 1984 vs brave new world, which way are we heading.

I took the meaning to be fairly simple, not a comment on the quality of the future so much as a reminder that, as much as we may race toward the future, people in the future will still find enjoyment by looking back to the past, preserved in the form on an ancient but still powerful technology - film.

I thought this was visually beautiful and the production value, impressive. But it did seem like a commercial to me... they could easily flash a photo company's logo at the end.

Nicely done.

I thought it was great. And a lot better than some of the other short films to catch fire.
