Such a great movie, and Beale is a fantastic character.

This is the movie I should have remembered when you asked what movies we wish we had written, Scott. Saw it early 2000s, years off from looking at writing scripts myself, left such a mark, steeped in Chayefsky afterwards. Took a few more years for me to turn to scripts, but if there was a moment a seed was planted, it was Network. While my hopes are a lot lower than Network (if Chayefsky is a 12 course meal, made by the finest chefs of the world, with exquisite ratios of savory and sweet, I'm one of those silly pink Hostess sno balls you buy at CVS), I still hope to squeeze a whole lot of truthiness and anarchy soul into my stories.

And Ned Beatty as bad guy. "You have meddled with the primal forces of nature." Just wow. Enjoyed Lotso in Toy Story 3 even more than I might have because of Beatty's turn as Arthur Jensen.

Dr. Strangelove. Another one, so glad they made it.

When Beale first uttered those words 35 years ago they were a stinging commentary. How sad, and yet interesting, that they still ring as true today.
