Thanks for offering this. Can you give us an idea what the weekly writing exercises will be like/what form they'll take? Thank you.

@CJ: For example in Core I, in the Structure component of the course, one of the ideas we focus on in lecture is the concept of metamorphosis, how in most movies a Protagonist goes through some sort of transformation from one psychological state at the beginning of the story into a far different state at the end. The writing exercise that week is for you to look at a character in one of your stories, and articulate the nature of their metamorphosis in four movements, each movement no more than say 2-4 lines of description.

In the Concept portion of the course, we get down to brass tacks: Write a logline for your story. Seems easy - in theory - but in practice, it can be a challenge, a good one in forcing the writer to drill down into the essence of the story.

The exercises are basically no more than 1-page. But they do require the writer to think about the ideas from lectures and to engage their story.

Hope that answers your question. If not, feel free to email me.

I noticed in the schedule that right now the classes go to the middle of March, everything after is TBD. After you finish the cycle from Core I to Craft: Script Style/Writer’s Voice will you be starting a new cycle in say, the summer? Thanks.
