Isn't Seltzer's career fascinating? The guy wrote this, The Omen, Willy Wonka and Lucas, in addition to Bird on The Wire ... it seems as though nearly any genre, he can handle!

I remember that Columbia Pics was so happy when they saw Punchline, Seltzer showed up on the lot one day to discover, IIRC, a Porsche, a little gift from the studio to him for a job well done.

I absolutely love this movie. There's a story about it that's stuck with me as well. Tom Hanks researched his role by writing some material and performing in small stand-up clubs for a few months. One night, a young, up-and-coming Chris Rock was one of the other comedians. Chris later said that the Tom Hanks was, bar none, the funniest comic he ever saw. You can absolutely see it in this movie. He makes it look so easy.

I love Hanks in this movie. I found this film right at the very beginning of discovering my love for the cinema, of which; of course, Hanks was playing such a major part.

Hanks was fantastic in this role, a funny man with 'demons.' I love that scene of him with the umbrella in the rain, performing for Sally Fields in the diner. Great stuff.

Oh yes. At I remember that point in the Movie, where he was singing in the rain, to be the moment where I thought: Omg, that movie is awesome!
But it also has so much great dialogue in it. Wonder why the IMDB rating is just 5.5 for me it's absolutely an 8-9
