Oh my God, Tampopo is on of my favorite movies and no one seems to know it. It's one of the most surreal and hilarious things I've ever watched. The Food Gangster and Japanese John Wayne.

I'd like to nominate the Triumph of Love, a 2001 movie starring Mira Sorvino, Ben Kingsley and Fiona Shaw that it seems almost no one has seen. Probably the most hilarious performance I've seen from all three of them, and they're all such amazing actors to begin with. The scenes where Mira Sorvino seduces Shaw and then Kingsley are comedy gold.

I never paid more for a single film on DVD than the USD$87 I paid for Tampopo (used copy).

When I saw it first on BBC 2, I got an instant ramen obsession. At the time that created a problem for me in the Belgian country town I lived in at the time.

In 1992 I visited a noodle bar in Brussels and learned the manager had been the boyfriend of the cowboy in the movie while he lived in Tokyo.

What a wonderful world.
