I think the need for solitude is the most misunderstood aspect of writing. It may start off with "I just want to finish this script and then carry on with my social life". But as you keep going on you don't miss the social life that much anymore and solitude becomes a way of life. By then your family and friends have already decided that you are a bit strange.
