A friend gave me this quote a few years ago from Victor Davis Hanson (I guess he's some kind of conservative writer but whatever I like it).

"You don't have to be perfect to be good."

I love Dustyn's take although I have in mind a few I've read that I wish had stayed firmly in the unwritten category.

When I first approached the idea of writing professionally I was overwhelmed by the seemingly endless supply of people who were writers (by their definition). It didn't take long for me to realize that the actual pool is a lot smaller once I cut out all those who don't actually write or write so sloooowly that children born today will be college graduates before they're finished with one script or book.

It's rather motivating to know that simply by writing everyday I've improved my chances considerably over those who are still in the 'getting-ready' stage.
