I like the trailer, but unfortunately, I didn't like the film, which is getting pretty middling reviews. It's shockingly cliche, and I couldn't shake the feeling that it was over-engineered. Because of that, I couldn't lose myself in it. It was like watching a movie pretend to be a movie.
It's from the filmmakers who made Half-Nelson, which is a pretty good movie, but this is their first attempt at a feel-good comedy, and it doesn't come naturally to them, it seems.
Also, that song that goes so well with the trailer isn't in the film, and it's a big part of what makes that trailer so good.
