I enjoyed the film. I'm ambivalent as to whether the opening scene was strong or weak. IMO, an opening, ideally, does the following:
- Establishes the genre and tone, preferably by creating the genre's primary emotion in the audience's mind.
- Creates a compelling question that the audience wants answered.
- Does exposition to establish the premise, said exposition served with an eyedropper and not a ladle.
Spielberg is a master as in: Jaws, Jurassic Park, Minority Report.

IMO, Inside Man's opening would be stronger if it created more of an audience emotion.
