Scott, what was your relationship really like with this exec? When she said "you are the first people I think of to call when one of my lunches cancels," was that even remotely plausible? Or, as seems more likely, would she have had to run through a list of dozens or hundreds of people to have lunch with before she got to you.

Just wondering, because I've known a few people who say things like that, seemingly sincere, when I know, and they know, and they know I know, that what they're saying is completely untrue.

@Walter: Let's just say we knew this exec very well due to writing projects. And not for one instant did I actually believe what she said was true, at least in any way that we might normally mean by the word 'true.' She was making a point. We got the point. I wasn't the least bit offended. I just thought it was both revelatory and funny.
