IMO, PT Anderson is the youngest living film director to achieve greatness. Just turned 40 in June.I loved BOOGIE NIGHTS, was meh about MAGNOLIA, liked PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE a lot - but THERE WILL BE BLOOD is about as good as filmmaking gets. I think of There Will Be Blood as an unofficial sequel to Treasure of the Sierra Madre and a case could be made for either film being the best and most quintessentially American film ever made - although my pick for best (and favorite) film is still 2001.

Interesting that he changed Daniel's weapon from a silver tumbler to a bowling pin. The silver tumbler would have given the scene a more Biblical flavor, but maybe PT decided there was enough of that already and made the murder into more of a game or contest by substituting the bowling pin. Either way, a chilling scene.

This is my favorite scene from the movie. Every time I watch it I can't wait for this scene. A fantastic climax.

What a powerful scene, had to look away watching, and, lamely, even found myself looking away reading script now. Potent story telling, thanks for sharing. This also the scene that came most to mind watching Bronson (fun intense flick).
