Westerns! I think they're going to come back. Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio *were* working on a remake of the Lone Ranger, but I don't think that's a very active right now.

Rom coms, action adventure in the spirit of Indiana Jones etc., thrillers, especially with a supernatural/sci fi-y bent.

For RomCom, I suggest "The Ramen Girl" It's not a perfect movie but has its good points, and seems worthy for discussion of what works and doesn't work. It was suggested that it was a remake of Tampopo and there is a cameo appearance of an actor from that film.

In addition to rom-com, I suggest cross-genre films, plus that hard-to-sell genre, historical fiction. Even though we're told both of those are hard sells, there are notable successes.
