Excellent post Scott! In 1977 on Thanksgiving day I went to the opening of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. I took a quick smoke break and went into the lobby. I noticed a short man peeking in at the audience and then closing the door to return pacing and smoking. I looked closer and it was Francois Truffaut, the filmmaker I admired the most, in real life. He noticed me staring at him and smiled and waved. I was speechless and I didn't want to disturb him but it didn't matter. He knew I knew who he was and that's all that mattered. As in his films where a look or a glance can say more than any dialogue, his smile and acknowledgment was enough. I will never forget that moment.

@Just_Hiltz: How excellent that you had your own 'close encounter' with Truffaut! Glad to have posted this interview to allow you to experience that memory once again.

Excellent post about the Francois Truffaut interview in the New Yorker.

> "Talk about what interests you, but make sure it interests others, too." An excellent and concise way of parsing through the variety of story concepts you come up with while brainstorming.

A way of thinking he did not share with Godard!
