What about "Say hello to my little friend"? I hear that one used in an untold number of bad kids' movies, which really is insane given that the target audience could never understand the homage.

Ha ha!! One more post that reminds me how grateful I am to have discovered this blog!

I'm guilty of using in my script three items from the abhorred list, but two of them function in a self-conscious, I'm-twisting-the-cliche way, so I guess they don't really count. Uh, do they? ;-)

And then there's my favorite:

Trust me.

(Only ever said when someone is asked to do something really, really stupid, and/or dangerous.)

I think the best adjustment to trust me I ever saw was in Due south.

Fraser: Just trust me.

Ray: No, I'm not going to just 'trust you' just be honest with me. Say 'Ray, I'm going to endanger your life in a series of bizarre and strange ways.'

Fraser: Trust me.

Ray: No, say it!

Pet peeve dialogue cliches: At the end of the day; Are we on the same page? And the infamous: The end result .... Oh, and "Don't try this at home."

Pet peeve dialogue cliches:
The end result is ...
At the end of the day ....
Are we on the same page?
And, "Don't try this at home."
I know dialogue is good when I memorize it to use in an argument with a family member or romantic involvement in my personal affairs. Works as long as the other person hasn't seen the movie.

"Eat this. It will make you strong." - usually in Westerns, said to the wounded hero as he grimaces after the bullet is dug out, and said, always, by the beautiful woman he's about to fall in love with. I smile when I hear this one.

'Fire in the hole' isn't a cliche, it's a warning that an incendiary device is about to go off in an enclosed space. Saying it's cliche is like saying, 'man overboard' or 'duck!' are cliches.

How many times have you heard, "You look like shit..." in a movie? SO many. There are variations, but wow, that phrase is used all the time.

Didn't see these: (Perhaps I was blind): "Uh-oh, looks like we've got company." "Someone got him....yeah, someone...or some THING." and "That idea is crazy!...So crazy it JUST MIGHT WORK."

Well, after working on these for a while, came up with even more. See if you agree that these are worthy additions: You guys are a bunch of ragtag misfits! I'm going to whip you into shape or die trying! Just give me 24 hours Chief, that's all I ask! You look like shit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlonv3yJCL4 You got a lotta nerve, coming back here. What could possibly go wrong? Find them. NOW! Ah, so glad you finally decided to join us. I was beginning to get worried. Okay, let's split up and look for the killer. Guards, seize them! Quickly, they're getting away! You saved my life, man. I owe you. Just because you saved my life, don't think I owe you. Stop the presses! Extry! Extry! Read All About It! Follow my lead. (or, Don't say anything and do what I do) This could get ugly. What do you mean, "get"? To make a long story short --- Too late. Watch, and learn. You just don't get it, do you? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KoKWf6pLs8 So, I take it you two have met? This is just perfect. You two deserve each other. Look out for that first step, it's a doozy. It's not the fall that kills you, it's the stopping. What does that even MEAN? Don't quit your day job. You, outta my office! Have you ever seen.... I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes! (Second person:)I did see it and I still don't believe it! Worse? How could things possibly get any worse? (Cue things getting worse.) (In strip club, looking at porn, etc.) Mom? (Character in office says something stupid/outrageous/threatening) (Person behind desk buzzes intercom) Security! (on phone call) I hate your guts! You are a son of a bitch!....Okay, bye, Mom. (or, Say Hi to Dad for me.) Dear Lord, what have I done? I was born ready. Go! Go! Go! (getting into taxi) Driver, The airport and STEP ON IT. May God have mercy on us all.

The list is longer than my memory. How about: "It'll take us 4-hours to do that." "You've got 30-minutes!"

Well, I thought I left a commentary, I don´t know where it went. My proposal: a cliché phrase in terror films "Hello? Anybody here/there?"

"I've seen enough ______ to know where this is going." "I've seen this movie. It does not end well." "Are you talking to me? Are you talking to ME?" (which is often used to challenge someone else but in the original the guy's talking to his image in a mirror.)

Could it be that this one has not been mentioned, or did I overlook it (there is an awful lot to take in): "I got a bad feeling about this." Granted, it's become a cliche since becoming a cute little garnish to every George Lucas movie ever made, but it has gotten around. I am even more surprised to not see the one that got me looking for movie cliche lists in the first place... the tiresome "NOOOOOOOOO!!!" that seems to be the only way human beings can express their devastation. I mean, when John F. Kennedy was shot, did Jackie ball up her fist and throw back her head and let fly? Not mocking, just saying. Has anyone started a tribute blog for moments in which you could reasonably expect a cliche but get something better? I found one in Wreck-It Ralph of all places. When Calhoun has just seen a huge nursery of evil bugs hatching out and soon to attack, and they could have trotted out one of these cliches, she says, “Doomsday and Armageddon just had a baby and it is UGLY.” Wonderful.
