Can't wait to see it. Heard raves from the people who saw it at Sundance.

Also, as a producer, love the main conceit. A documentary approach as a fictional film. Novel-ish, and it justifies a ton of the "cheaper" ways to tell the movie: hand-held DV, Google Maps street-view, and the single most useful location in all of film--your cousin's abandoned farm house in the middle of nowhere. Equals a movie every. Damn. Time.

I saw this movie shortly after Sundance. It blew my mind.

This has been on my must-see radar for the last couple of days, but now I'm confused. Is it a documentary or a faux documentary or an fictional experiment in genre-bending?

Personal, fresh, current, relevant in the extreme and smartly in command of the best each of the three genres have to offer. And that's just the trailer...

Does it change things if Catfish is all truth or all fiction or a mix of truth and fiction? And for whom would it change things?

If fiction, the film looks to be bloody brilliant, give these guys money so they can keep making such compelling work. A story and movie construction that plays with and expands the medium and grabs the audience. Give 'em lots of money.

If truth, bravo for right place and right time and the tools to capture it and the editing savvy to forge into compelling film. Don't know how they'll follow up on it, but maybe they'll get lucky again.

What if Catfish is a mix of truth and fiction? For those not in on the fiction, the entire endeavor would seem exploitive (and for me, as potential audience, much less interesting).

Food for thought. Bravo to Schulman and Joost for making something that captured people's attention so thoroughly, that is a huge hurdle and they leapt across it.
