What an unfortunate mess. Both men are visionaries working for bean counters who mostly are fretting over how quickly to get Hobbit Happy Meals rolling at the Golden Arches Supper Club. *sigh*

Yeah what a shitshow. I too would have loved to see what Del Toro would have done with the world that Jackson and WETA put together for the original trilogy. I was really looking forward to seeing Del Toro move into a fantastical film that DIDN'T feature the design/look/feel that he's been riding for the past couple of movies. Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy have absolutely nothing in common, but was I the only one who thought that the creature design in Hellboy 2 was taken straight out of his journals from Pan's Labyrinth? Love both of those movies to death, btw. Just was slightly apprehensive to see that distinctive look applied to a Hobbit.

The upside of all of this? Now he can make At the Mountains of Madness and blow my mind right out of my skull. I read a draft of that script and if someone gives him the funds for that, it will be unbelievable.

As long as it gets made sometime.

Hooray for Wellywood.
