I think it possible for the concept to be used if executed way differently than the project that sold.

In 2007, there were three movies released that all had the same basic concept - a female dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. Juno, Knocked Up and Waitress. In each movie, the inciting incident is the positive home pregnancy test and the end of the movie is the birth.

In Juno, the protag gives the baby away, but keeps the baby dad. In Waitress, the protag keeps the baby, but gets rid of the baby dad. In Knocked Up, the protag keeps both the baby and the baby dad.

Same basic plot/concept in all three movies, but different worlds, characters and execution. So different that I believe most people don't even see how similar they are.
