I am surprised they're not taking the rom-com direction. This movie seems to write itself.

"Paul Coffey was unlucky in love, and never did the right thing when he was with a lady. Until one day, a magic 8 ball appeared on the street in front of him, and seemed to have all the right answers for wooing the ladies."

Of course, he'd eventually drop the Magic 8 Ball and break it, leading to an ending where he realized that the right answer isn't as easy to find as he hoped. Or something.

I agree with Darren. When I saw this premise, I gave myself a mental slap to the forehead for not thinking of it first. I think there's great territory to mine for a sweet comedy.

This might be the straw that causes me to give the fuck up.

You bust your ass to create something unique, something cool and fun and exciting and this is what you get -- movies like this, while your work sits unnoticed.

It's enough to drive a decent writer mad.
